Overmolding
Features And Benefits Of Overmolding Cable Assemblies
The Problem?
No matter how well-built mechanical connector assemblies are, there will eventually be issues with stressed conductors at the contact terminations and loosening and separation of the connector body and the insert, potentially enabling the insert to spin.
Our Solution!
Our proprietary 2 step molding process results in overmolded cable assemblies of superior strength and quality. That's why they come with a 10 Year Guarantee on overmolding and workmanship.†
What Is Overmolding?
With the use of a custom mold and injected polymer material, the 1st step encapsulates the conductors and pins/sockets locking them in place. The 2nd step of the process overmolds the assembly with a rubberized material, creating a part that's both durable and attractive. It replaces the need for expensive metal backshells and eliminates the time and expense of REPAIRING cable assemblies.
Strength & Durability
Overmolded connectors offer significant opportunity for improved shock absorbency, pull strength, and strain & flex relief, staying in service longer. Expect long life and reliable performance.
Savings
Eliminate the expense of reworks and costly downtime, whether you're designing new or refurbishing existing assemblies. Pricing is still competitive compared to standard mechanical assemblies.
Safety
Our overmold process results in zero torsion between the cable and head connector, eliminating unnecessary stresses to the contacts. This virtually eliminates the chance of burnt pins, pushed back pins, shorts, or hot spots that are an eventuality with any mechanical assembly.
Customization
Overmolded cable assemblies let you customize your cables with a wide range of colors or personalize with your own logos for easy identification and theft deterrence.
Flexibility
7 Pin, 14 Pin, Dual Twist and 19 Pin connectors can all benefit from the overmold process.
Beauty
A better looking and feeling product impacts your company image and your bottom line.
† 10 Year Guarantee excludes abuse and neglect.
